NYU Abu Dhabi Book

Book Design

Our fifth book for New York University was to commemorate an oral history of the NYU Abu Dhabi campus, from the inception of the idea to one of the most successful, thriving international institutions of higher learning.

We printed the book cover with a UV gloss varnish using the NYUAD Arabesque pattern, matching up to its slipcase — a custom, purple-dyed, laser cut aluminum case with a thin plexiglass liner. The book interior also used UV gloss varnish on section openers and select spreads with English and Arabic language pages throughout. The custom-designed font we developed was meant to reflect the modern simplicity of the campus while maintaining sophistication and legibility.

The striking NYU Abu Dhabi campus, designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, opened in 2014 on Saadiyat Island and is home to a diverse and global student body.
